Tommy Kahnle pitched in the 2026 World Baseball Classic before he pitched in a spring training game.
Soon, the veteran reliever will have a chance to pitch again even after the WBC is over.

Kahnle made two scoreless appearances for Team Israel during pool play at the WBC while he lingered on the free agent market.
According to his agency, Kahnle has signed a minor league contract with the Boston Red Sox.
Kahnle, a 36-year-old right-hander, went 1-5 with a 4.43 ERA in 66 appearances for the Detroit Tigers in 2025.
In 456 career games with the Tigers, Yankees (2017-20, 2023-24), Dodgers (2022), Chicago White Sox (2016-17) and Colorado Rockies (2014-15), Kahnle is 11-19 with a 3.61 ERA.
According to Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com, the Red Sox have been “flirting” with signing Kahnle for years. He’ll add to the team’s bullpen depth at the minor league level with a chance to extend his major league career to 12 seasons.
On March 13, Boston signed 36-year-old left-hander Danny Coulombe to a minor league contract, giving manager Alex Cora another experienced arm to potentially break camp with the big league club.
