Kentucky’s SEC Tournament run continues in the wrong direction
· Yahoo Sports
Kentucky men’s basketball has won 32 SEC Tournament titles. People called it the “Kentucky Invitational.” Now you have punks like Dan Dakich taking pot shots at the program for being “irrelevant,“ and Todd Golden proving he is the most annoying winner in college basketball at the expense of the Cats.

It’s not been a good run for Kentucky. Since 2020, the Cats have been eliminated in the quarterfinals or earlier in every season except 1 (2022).
Kentucky basketball must break its duck
The World Cup is coming up, I know you guys love some soccer, and the Cats have to break their duck. When a player or team goes a long time without scoring a goal, and finally does it, it’s called breaking their duck. And the Cats have got to get back to SEC relevance next season. There is no excuse for a program that spends like the Cats do to not be in the Semifinals of the SEC in most years.
Flukes happen, bad nights happen, but 6 years and 1 semifinal is a trend. And a trend Kentucky must break.
Mark Pope faces key offseason
Unless Kentucky goes on a magical March run like the 2014 team did, next season is going to define the Mark Pope tenure. Either he takes the next step and gets Kentucky back to the national stage, or he takes the next step toward another job.
That’s what is at stake here. Mark Pope knows it. You can see the pressure on his face.
Do you think Kentucky can go on a 2014-like run, or will it all come down to the Transfer Portal and next season? Let me know down below.
