Rail Wheel Factory Celebrates International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at Rail Wheel Factory (RWF) on March 11, 2026, with a programme highlighting women’s empowerment and their contributions across various fields.

Smt. Smaranika Pradhan, President of the RWF Women’s Welfare Organisation, attended the function as the chief guest. A distinguished personality in the field of Hindi literature, she is an eminent writer and poet proficient in Sanskrit, Hindi, English and Oriya.

Addressing the gathering, Smt. Pradhan spoke about the immense potential of women to excel in every sphere of life — whether as homemakers, leaders of nations or explorers of space. She stressed that empowering women is crucial for achieving genuine gender equality in society.

Manoranjan Pradhan, General Manager of RWF, presided over the function. In his address, he appreciated the vital role played by women as the strength and support behind families and society. He described women as a powerful source of inspiration and acknowledged their invaluable contributions to social progress and development.

The programme also featured an address by Dr. Shailashree Haridas, Dean of the Faculty of Management and Economics at PES University, Bengaluru, who attended as the guest speaker. In her talk, Dr. Haridas highlighted the multiple roles performed by women in modern society and spoke about the importance of passion, clear goals, hard work and dedication in achieving success.

She encouraged women to recognise their strengths and pursue their ambitions with confidence, emphasising that determination and continuous learning can help them reach greater heights in their personal and professional lives.

As part of the celebrations, various competitions were organised for women employees of the Rail Wheel Factory. Smt. Smaranika Pradhan distributed prizes to the winners, congratulating them for their participation and achievements.

The event was attended by Shuja Mahamood, Principal Chief Personnel Officer, along with Principal Heads of Departments (PHODs), Heads of Departments (HODs), senior officers and staff members of the organisation.

The celebration reflected Rail Wheel Factory’s commitment to recognising the achievements of women and promoting an inclusive environment that supports their growth and empowerment.
