The Washington Commanders were always going to be an interesting watch as free agency approached, given how poor the franchise was in 2025, coupled with its projected cap space.

And general manager Adam Peters didn't sit on his hands. He got a big deal done.

Well, two actually. First, Laremy Tunsil signed a two-year extension, which pays him $30 million APY.

Then the Commanders all out in the edge rusher market, signing Los Angeles Chargers star Odafe Oweh to a four-year, $100 million deal.

ESPN's Seth Walder gave the move a "B" grade.

“The former Ravens and Chargers edge rusher was one of the top free agents in this year's class -- and he got paid like it," Walder wrote. "This price ($25 million per year) seems right in line with where Oweh's market should be.

“Oweh will lead an edge-rushing group that includes Deatrich Wise Jr. -- who missed most of last season with a quadriceps injury -- and Dorance Armstrong, who tore an ACL last October.”

Commanders going all in for Jayden Daniels

With Daniels on his rookie deal, this is when the Commanders have to strike and put good pieces around him.

They did it last year, signing Deebo Samuel and Tunsil, but Jayden's injury troubles ended the season before it really began.

But now, with Daniels healthy, the Commanders are loading up to try and get back to the NFC Championship game as they did in Jayden's rookie season.

His blindside protector isn't going anywhere, and the defense just got a top-quality pass rusher.

Washington is moving with intent early in free agency.
