The Boston Celtics and fans of the storied franchise were thrilled on Friday with the return of Jayson Tatum. The star forward had missed the entire season until the win over the Dallas Mavericks because of a ruptured Achilles he suffered in the playoffs last season, 10 months ago. The buzz started a couple of weeks ago that Tatum might be ready to return and he was in the starting lineup for the 120-100 romp.

The six-time NBA All-Star is popular far beyond the fan base of the Celtics. On social media, he has 7.3 million followers, and on Twitter he has 1.4 million.

Tatum showed some rust, which was to be expected, missing his first six shots before connecting on a slam dunk. He followed that with a 3-point basket off a nice move in the corner. Those were two of five shots he hit consecutively.
