HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Five hockey teams in state tournament action

It was a busy night of tournament hockey for the Cape and Islands on Monday.

There were three boys games and one girls game.
Five Cape and Islands teams competed for the chance to advance to the Elite Eight.
Boys Hockey
Div. 4, Round of 16: No. 7 Martha's Vineyard 5, No. 23 Bourne 2: The Vineyarders (14-8) topped the Canalmen (10-10-2) to advance to the Elite Eight.
James Crowell (two goals) and James Kirby (one assist) led the offense for Bourne, while Jackson Palmborg had 39 saves in goal.
Div. 2, Round of 16: No. 9 Walpole 4, No. 8 Barnstable 3: The Red Hawks (13-8-1) were eliminated from the tournament to end a strong season.
Div. 3, Round of 16: No. 2 Nauset 1, No. 18 Taunton 0: The Warriors (17-2-3) advanced to the Elite Eight off a goal from Brody Bassett in the third period. Jake Eldredge and Braxton Bassett had the assists.
Girls Hockey
Div. 2, Round of 16: No. 6 Auburn 4, No. 11 Falmouth 1: The Clippers (15-8) saw their season come to an end in Central Massachusetts.
