Tyrese Maxey shared a message to Sixers following 4-game losing streak

PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia 76ers were in a bit of trouble following a loss to the lowly New Orleans Pelicans to begin their recent 3-game road trip. The loss was Philadelphia's fourth straight--a season-high for them-- and it was in danger of dropping into the play-in tournament.

With the Sixers traveling to Minnesota to face the Timberwolves on the second night of a back-to-back, they could have crumbled. The T-Wolves are one of the best teams in the league and a veteran team that's been to the Western Conference finals in each of the previous two years. It looked a fifth straight loss was on the way.

Instead, Tyrese Maxey shared a message to the Sixers following the loss to the Pelicans to be sure they were going to be ready against the Timberwolves.

"I think the biggest thing is like the two games before the Minnesota game," Maxey began. "Pelicans and the Hawks, we played good basketball all the way up to the fourth quarter, and it’s like once the fourth quarter—third a little bit, too, but like fourth quarter happened and boom, we lost both those games quick."

When considering those facts, Maxey and the Sixers earned an impressive road win in Minnesota which has started a 3-game win streak following Thursday's win over the Miami Heat. He wanted his team to be sure in which direction it wanted to take.

"My little message to the team was like, listen, we can go one of two ways right now," Maxey finished. "We can quit, give up, and, you know, drop, or we could turn it around and ascend to who we think we are, and who we can be. That night, I think we just went out there and just took a game. We had to go get one and go take one and to come off that road trip being 2-1, that was pretty good."

The Sixers will now head to TD Garden to take on the Boston Celtics on Sunday night.
