As Pavia prepares for throwing at the NFL Combine on Saturday, questions about his size have followed him throughout the pre-draft process. His underdog mentality has been the main theme of his rise, but so has his height.
That discussion intensified this week when a post from Rich Johnson on X listed Pavia at 5-foot-6. It's a measurement that would make him the shortest quarterback ever to play in the NFL. However, the post was false.
Pavia was officially measured at 5-foot-9 and 7/8, notably shorter than the 6-foot listing on his Vanderbilt bio page but well above the viral 5-6 mark. For historical context, Eddie LeBaron and Davey O'Brien are widely regarded as the shortest quarterbacks in NFL history at 5-foot-7. In the modern era, Kyler Murray and Bryce Young both measured just over 5-foot-10 at the combine.
“Yeah, my size has been doubted my whole life,” Pavia told AL.com’s Creg Stephenson. “I feel like the only thing the NFL cares about is can you win, and I view myself as a winner.”

Pavia’s resume backs that confidence. He has never had a losing season as a starting quarterback. But with his height, age and polarizing personality under scrutiny, teams will weigh every detail ahead of the 2026 draft.
