Seahawks slam Druski for ‘lame’ butchering of Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s name during NFL Honors
· Yahoo Sports
Comedian and actor Drew Desbordes, better known as Druski, had the privilege of joining Barry Sanders in co-presenting the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year award, which went to Seattle Seahawks superstar Jaxon Smith-Njigba. There was the usual “wrong cue on the teleprompter” gag right before the nominees were announced, and then Druski announced JSN as the winner.

Sort of.
This isn’t like Cher thinking Luther Vandross won a Grammy from beyond the grave, this was Druski seemingly trying to mispronounce Smith-Njigba’s surname for comedic effect/hoping it goes viral.
Druski mispronounced Jaxon Smith-Njigba's name on purpose, right?

This was worse than Mike Verbal pic.twitter.com/ZBBMDDHscP
For those who don’t know Druski either from social media or the T-Mobile commercials, he is a big sports fan and actually aspired to be a sportscaster before turning to comedy. My suspicion is that he 100 percent knew how to pronounce Smith-Njigba’s name and could’ve just said “JSN” from the get-go if he wanted to.
Uchenna Nwosu and the Seahawks PR team took Druski to task on this one.
Druski lame

Hall of Famer Barry Sanders drew the short straw getting stuck with @druski’s big whiff tonight. Put some respect on @Seahawks WR @jaxon_smith1’s name. https://t.co/tCe2afCcv9

Smith-Njigba didn’t attend the ceremony, hence his award speech was recorded in the above video. He’ll be looking to win the Super Bowl this Sunday against the New England Patriots, whose head coach is apparently new Coach of the Year winner Mike Verbal. Somehow, someway, that wasn’t the worst flub of the night.
